All exercises help lower blood pressure. Endurance exercise like walking and swimming, and weight lifting can treat hypertension. Practically any physical exercise helps lower your blood pressure. However, you are advised to do exercises you enjoy and are convenient to you.

Exercise reduces blood pressure mainly by two ways - reducing body fat and insulin levels. High body fact and insulin levels are the main causes of High Blood Pressure. And, exercise helps control these.
3. How Long Should You Exercise?
Start exercising for just 20 minutes. For convenience, you can split this into 2-10 minute periods. Then keep adding 2 minutes to each exercise everyday. Do this till you reach a minimum of 30 minutes.

Select activities that fit your convenience regarding the time you can exercise, your routine and availability of exercise equipment. For example, though swimming is the best exercise, it may not be suitable for many. So, vhoose the best exercises that suit you and work out on them.
