Knee pain is a very common disease even among younger people. One of the reasons behind this pain is arthritis. It is one among the mostly found diseases in the world. With the passage of time arthritis has belied the myth that it can occur only to the aged people. Youngsters are now more prone towards having arthritis. When a major chunk of people are suffering from this disease a query about the disease seems very pertinent.
What is arthritis:
- Arthritis is a disease of the knee that gradually makes the victim crippled.
- The cartilages that cushion the bones of knees start gradually drying away. This causes rubbing of the bones and it pains while walking.
- If one knee is affected by arthritis then there is a strong possibility that the other one will also be affected.
Why Does Arthritis Occur:
- Arthritis may occur due to heredity or family history of the disease.
- It may also occur due to any injury in knees.
- Arthritis can affect due to lack of proper nutrition.
- Arthritis is a disease which generally affects the obese people. Because of heavy weight of the body the knees get hurt, and the cartilages become the immediate victim.
What should be done:
- Avoid running. It will hurt your already weaken cartilages.
- Avoid climbing stairs as much as possible.
- Avoid sitting cross legged.
- Avoid heavy exercises of knees.
- Go for brisk walking. It helps strengthening your cartilages.
- Eat healthy food. Nutritious food helps strengthening your muscles and bones.
- Consult a physiotherapist and continue the exercises he prescribes to you.
Arthritis is a very painful disease. However, it can be restrained with proper care. Once you are sure that you are affected by arthritis take proper care not to put much pressure on your knees. Rather, adopt such activities which strengthen your bones and muscles.
