Most people start on an exercise program only to stop it half-way and feel sad about it. Exercising has many benefits, but busy schedules, unfavorable weather, day-to-day problems can leave you demotivated and make it difficult to exercise. Motivation to exercise is mostly required in the initial months of exercising. Once you body gets used to the schedule, you can stick to the plan and stay fit
How to Find Motivation to Exercise?
People who stick to their exercising schedule usually have motivators which keeps them going. Here are few exercise motivation tips:
- Write down the benefits: The benefits of exercise such as weight loss, better looks, increased confidence, agility etc. can be great motivation to exercise. Writing down how exercise can benefit you can motivate you and encourage you to start exercising
- Plan and Schedule: Joining a health club or enrolling yourself in an exercise program can motivate you to exercise. All the good intentions about exercising will not benefit unless you plan and schedule your exercise time. Do some research about exercising outdoors and local gym and come to a decision. After this, act on this plan by joining the gym or finding a place to jog, run etc.
- Exercise with a Buddy: Research shows that people who exercise with a buddy are more likely to stick to their workout routine. An exercise buddy helps you to be accountable, keeps you company, and both of you can encourage each other
- Exercise in the mornings: Studies show that exercising in the morning is most beneficial and people who exercise in the morning are less likely to give up. Morning time also offers plenty of free time, unlike evenings, which can be busy. Hence, exercise in the morning 5 to 6 times a week to reap the full benefits of exercising
- Read about Fitness: The more you read about fitness, the more you would be motivated to exercise. Read some good fitness magazines which will not only inform you, but will inspire you to exercise
- Do not overdo: Exercising for longer hours when you start off can lead to injuries and make the task seem difficult. Hence, start slowly and increase your exercise time gradually
While finding exercise motivation may take work, you should also be careful of people who discourage you. Get the right knowledge about exercising to avoid injury. It is sometimes better to exercise under the supervision of a coach or a buddy who is knowledgeable about exercising.
Motivation to exercise is as important as acting on your plan to workout. So, get motivated and start exercising to stay fit.
