Toned arms are much sought after as they are the most likely to be exposed. Few people have the tendency to put on flab around their arms. But, naturally, excess fat initially accumulates under the arms, around the belly and the hips. So, well-toned arm can be acquired when a person includes daily physical activity in his/her daily life.
Experts point out that there is no spot reduction i.e. fat from particular area cannot be rapidly removed through a few set of exercises. A combination of cardiovascular exercises, strength training exercises and arm toning exercises can help in toning up your arm. The easy way of doing arm toning exercises is with weights.
Arm toning exercises involve active arm movements, thereby helping you to quicken the process of toning up the arms. Along with arm toning exercises, one should spend 30 minutes daily in cardiovascular activity to get rid of the fat under the arms.
Strength training helps your muscles to strengthen and gives them a toned appearance. So, cardio gets rid of the fat and strength training (which uses dumbbells, barbells, weight machines) improves the muscle tone and helps you to get toned arms.
Arm Toning Exercises:
The following arm toning exercises can be done to reduce the flab:
- Bicep curls
- Alternate dumbbell curl
- Push-ups and Pull ups
- Lateral raises
- Tricep kickbacks
- Tricep dips
You can start the above exercises with a 5-pound dumbbells and increase the weight gradually. Doing 10 to 15 sets of each exercise is recommended to have toned arms.
Dumbbells, barbells, resistance bands, weight machines or exerting yourself in carrying your grocery bags – all help in strengthening the arms. Few women have a misconception that if they take up dumbbells or barbells, they will bulk up. This is not true. The arm muscles will become lean and more defined as you continue to workout. However, it is important to get rid of the underlying fat by doing the cardiovascular exercises to avoid bulking up.
