Weight loss plateau is a place where you stop losing weight. All your efforts to eating healthy and exercise may not produce the good results as they did before. Weight loss plateau is usually caused when the body adapts itself to the fitness or diet routine. So, how do you get over a weight loss plateau? The key to get over the weight loss plateau is to make changes in your diet and fitness routine.

The following diet changes can help you to get over the weight loss plateau:
- Eat more of fruits and vegetables. Most people focus on eating less calories instead of eating healthy. Switch to more fruits and vegetables. You can also try having a salad dinner on few days
- Drink more water, fruit juices rather than soft drinks
- Eat 6 small meals rather than 3 large meals. This will make you snack less and keep you from overeating
- Keep your food portions smaller. Get additional servings if you feel like eating more
Noting down the foods you eat inĀ a food diary can also help you to keep track of the foods you eat.
Change in Fitness Routine:
The following are the changes you can make to fitness routine to get over the weight loss plateau:
- If you doing only cardio exercise, include strength training in your fitness routine. Strength training burns calories, increases muscle tone and helps you to stay fit. A pound of muscle burns more calories than a pound of fat. So, do include strength training.
- Change your cardio exercises. If you are doing more of cycling, switch to treadmill, or elliptical trainer etc. This will give your body a change in the workout routine
- You can add activities during the day which can keep you active. Walking the dog, running, jogging etc. can all help you to stay fit
A weight loss plateau can be overcome by increasing the intensity of your exercise or varying the way you exercise. Keeping track of the food you eat and eating healthy can also help you to get over weight loss plateau
